The Big Table

The Big Table

More room at the table.

How It Began +

Before The Big Table was an idea, it was simply a table at Daily Bread in Ponsonby.

Five of us began arriving there most days, each looking for a small break from working at home and a little more connection in the day. We did not set out to find a community. We just kept turning up.

At first, we were familiar faces sharing the same table. Then the conversations grew longer. Coffee became part of the rhythm of our days. Slowly, the table became a place where we were known, welcomed and missed when we were not there.

What began as a simple routine grew into a genuine friendship. Now we see each other several times a week, even outside Daily Bread. We celebrate one another, show up for one another and make room for each other through all the ordinary and extraordinary parts of life.

The feeling we found around that table was rare and beautiful: a sense that there is a place for you, exactly as you are. The Big Table is our way of sharing that feeling. We want others to come in, take a seat and leave with the same sense of belonging that changed our days.

About The Event +

28 August · 7:00pm · Daily Bread, Ponsonby

Join us for a three-course meal, with a cocktail on arrival and wine and non-alcoholic options served at the table throughout the evening.

Live music and live spoken word poetry will move through the room as the night unfolds.

We are transforming the room into a place for those who value real, in-person connection. It's somewhere to get off your phone, meet the people beside you, and leave part of an unforgettable community.
